Tell us about you dental career?

 

I qualified from Glasgow University in 1993 and developed my skill set by working in various surgeries in Lanark, Cumbernauld and Bannockburn before setting up at Windmill Dental Care over 21 years ago. While at Glasgow I completed an elective study period at the University of California Los Angeles, USA.  I am currently a member of the Lanarkshire Local Dental Committee, Area Dental Committee and past Chair/ committee member of the Scottish LDC Conference Agenda Committee, Scottish Dental Fund and Scottish Dental Practice Committee. I am also employed as a Practice Inspector by the NHS to help maintain standards within general practice.

Do you focus on any aspects of dentistry?

​

My main focus is patient care. I strongly believe that all dentists should listen very carefully and understand patient's needs and concerns before, during and after treatment.  Preventative Dentistry is the key to oral health life care but I also have a keen interest in Cosmetic Dentistry and pride myself on my ability for attention to detail. I am also fully qualified in the use of facial cosmetics and take great joy in watching how minimal amounts of treatments can transform a patient.

What do you do away from work?

​

Being married with 2 daughters my main focus in my life is my family.  Sport is also very important to me, whether it's training in the gym, running, playing squash or watching rugby and football.
